Problems with Conventional Turkey Cooking

There are several problems with roasting a turkey in your oven. The first, and most obvious, is that depending on the size of the bird you may have to wake up at 6:00 a.m. to get that thing going. It's a holiday, let's act like it. Roasting a turkey leaves no room for sleeping in. Your family will be over at noon, get your rest, because you can't start drinking that early.

Additionally, leaving your oven on for hours throughout the day uses a lot of energy. In the current economic and energy climate - pun intended - why use so much gas? Also, with the oven on all day, your kitchen will start to heat up pretty quickly and if any of the chefs is going through menopause then watch out, friend.

Finally, turkeys have been known to explode in ovens. Occasionally, if the bird is too hot, pressure will build up within the turkey, and if it filled with stuffing - like most turkeys in the oven are - that pressure will have no where to go, thus the turkey explodes, blows the oven door off, which smashes into your new fridge, which causes all the glass jars against the door to break, spilling everywhere. We call this the Game Over scenario.
